Stepping Out

APRIL 2024

Venture out into the dramatic Devon landscape with painter and mixed media artist, Sue Ifould.

With Sue, you’ll learn different ways to tune-in and loosen-up to record your initial impressions. We will then go on to work with more focus, considering the significance of tone, composition and colour.

About the Artist

Sue has been painting and teaching for many years. Her (indoor) studio is in South Brent, not far from Palstone, and she delights in working in the (outside) studio of moorland and river valley. Sue works in a variety of media, including watercolour, inks and acrylics. She is an enthusiastic and passionate teacher.

“ It opens me up to the space. In many ways it’s meditative, Gradually my senses wake up… I see more, I start noticing relationships of shape and tone, the sounds, smells and colours. Inevitably I’m absorbed in the process, and no matter what the outcome of my mark-making I’ve been truly present in the place.”

Activities

  • Journey into restfulness through sound, allowing your mind and body to slow, quieten and still as you prepare for sleep.

  • Wake up for the day with Hatha and Embodied Flow yoga sessions – led by resident teacher, Jenny.

  • Capture a moment at beautiful Wonwell Beach and the harbourside at Noss Mayo.

  • Continue your art journal back at our small, dedicated studio, where Helen will be on hand to assist you.

  • Bathe in the beauty of our local forest at a secret location, revealed once you arrive.

  • Experience icy cold or firey hot – both, as invigorating as the other.

  • Unwind with Lisa and experience a true sense of release. Some describe it as ‘walking on air.’
