Putting Ink to Paper
NOVEMBER 2023
This November, we invite you to spend a weekend art journaling at Palstone, exploring the coastline with artist and calligrapher Helen Scholes.
With Helen, you’ll learn how to map sea themes and create beautiful visual replicas of the shoreline – using ink and watercolour.
About the Artist
With Helen, you’re in brilliant hands. She’s our visiting artist and co-host on this retreat – a teacher, calligrapher, graphic designer, printmaker and illustrator. She’s fellow of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society, FCLAS and a full member of Letter Exchange and designs the Edge.
On top of completing the (SSI) Advanced Training Scheme, she recently spent a year as a full-time student at the European Lettering Institute in Bruges.
“I believe anyone can be taught to draw. I really enjoy sharing my ideas and know that to be a good teacher you have to keep learning new things yourself.
I love making things and adapting my skills to new media. I started working on my journaling and sketchbook skills during lockdown and now enjoy using watercolour most of all”
